The Christian Education Committee
2003-2004

2003: During this year, Phyllis Farrell and Doris Rhodes were Co-Chairs of the Christian Education Committee. The curriculum for study was taken from 'THE CHILDREN'S ILLUSTRATED BIBLE-THE NEW TESTAMENT retold by Victoria Parker. Each week the children study a story of Jesus as told in the gospels, sing songs, learn Bible verses, and participate in crafts. The Church offering is accompanied by singing the Doxology There are now 12 children, ages 6-11 in the class. Teaching the children were Phyllis, Connie Martin-Wilson, Scott Shay, and Doris.

The Nursery Class uses the Beginner's Bible. The children do lots of playing, reading Bible Stories memorize and enjoy snacks. This class has an active membership of 6 children ages 1 1A to 4 years of age. Teaching the Nursery Class include Claire Fraize, and Debbie Scale, helped by Donna Griggs, Linda Rosolko, Joy Arsenault, Betsy Bailey, and Estelle Ferguson.

Other activities of the children included:

Participations on Palm Sunday with a parade of palms, and on Memorial Sunday with the presentations of flags. The Annual Children's Day was held in June when they presented a skit on King David, recited memory verses. This was held in the Sanctuary. A Christmas Carol sing along was in held in Page Hall. All the children sponsored a family through the Salvation Army, and participated in the Shoe Box Giving Program. During the Advent season, four different families participated in the reading and lighting of candles during the worship service.

2004: In September 3 new classes were added to the Sunday School to make a total of 5 Classes. They were: Teen Class, Junior Class, Elementary Class, Early Elementary Class, and Nursery Class. The membership consists often children in Sunday School and two toddlers in the Nursery. The weekly attendance has doubled over last year. The joining in worship with the World Wide Church of God Children continues, and was responsible for the addition of new classes.

In order to allow teachers and helpers to attend morning Church Worship a monthly schedule was arranged to permit this. The Sunday School Teachers were Linda Rosolko, Phyllis Farrell, Scott and Debbie Shay, Scott, and Robin Skinner, Connie Martin-Wilson, Drucilla Edwards, Doris Rhodes, Betsy Bailey, and Debbie Scale. The Helpers were Donna Griggs, Joy Arsenault, and Estelle Ferguson. The Co-Chair was Doris Rhodes and Phyllis Farrell.

Other activities during 2004 were: On Palm Sunday. The children marched into the Sanctuary with a parade of palms. The Annual Children's Day was held in June in with the presentation of three short skits representing the life of Jesus, the reciting of memory verses and the awarding of attendance certificates. For Thanksgiving the children brought food to be given to the Salvation Army. They presented a Christmas Carol singing program in Page Hall on Christmas Sunday, and participated in the Shoe Box Program. On Christmas Eve the children worshipped with the World Wide Church of God Sunday School children, and enacted the Birth of Christ dressed in costumes of the era. The children visited the Norumbega Assisted Living Home, and presented a program to the parents of Robin Skinner, and other residents of the home.
